About The Vowel House / Multisensory Phonics Instruction for Parents

Meet the educator behind It’s All About the Vowels - a structured, evidence-based multisensory phonics program

Over 35 Years of Classroom Success, Delivered to Your Home.

With over 35 years of experience as a 1st and 2nd-grade teacher, K-5 Reading Interventionist, and Private Reading Tutor, I have spent my career uncovering why some children thrive while others struggle when learning to read. I discovered that the missing piece for almost every struggling reader is a deep, structural understanding of phonics and vowel rules.
To solve this in my own classroom, I created "The Phonics Wall"—a multisensory environment where students of all levels learned together through color-coding, music, rhythm, and movement. We practiced 1 rule each month. The results were undeniable: my students’ reading levels accelerated because they finally had the tools to decode words accurately. They became so confident that I could tell them with certainty: "By the end of the year, you’ll be able to read almost anything."
I have since transformed that classroom "wall" into It’s All About the Vowels, a series of 9 comprehensive online lessons. What began as a tool in my classroom, then transferred to my private tutoring sessions, and became requested by parents who were amazed by their children's progress—is now available to you. My mission is to give you the same tools I used in the classroom so that you can become your child’s most effective teacher.

“It’s All About the Vowels” teaches parents how to teach phonics and allows them to understand what their child is learning at school.

Lessons include audio files with explicit directions and follow a phonics progression so parents don't have to guess about how or when to teach sounds or vowel rules.

Parents and children can click on the sound buttons, follow simple directions, listen to the examples, then practice sounding out words.

Lessons are clear and concise with an easy to follow format that is consistent from one lesson to another.

Lessons reinforce what is taught at school and provide the repetition needed to master decoding skills.

Application of skills assessment activities allow parents to determine when their child is ready to move to the next lesson.
